The data will be collected from 3 sources:
- Local authorities, via an online survey
- NHS organisations, extracted from the Electronic Staff Record (ESR)
- Academic institutions, extracted from the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) staffing data set.
The data will be used by Health Education England for recruitment and workforce planning and commissioning of specialty training.
